Suitable and capable people

This month we wanted to highlight the second pillar in our Child Safe Policy: Suitable and capable people.

The most valuable asset in any congregation is our people, both paid and volunteer.

The Church is blessed to have so many great people willing to commit their time to us.

However just because someone offers to do a role, doesn’t mean they are the best fit for that role, especially when that role puts them in a position of power above those more vulnerable.

This pillar covers aspects of recruitment including screening, selection, ongoing education, support and supervision.

The implementation guide encourages congregations to reflect on how we are putting people in positions as well as how we provide ongoing support for them.
